Grid SystemsIn SAFE, grids can be defined as cartesian, cylindrical, or general free-form grid systems. There is no limit to the number of grid systems in a model and they can be rotated in any direction or placed at any origin within the model.
Interactive Database EditingWith interactive database editing, model data can be edited from a table view which simplifies the task of making changes to the model. Tables are easily exportable and importable from Microsoft Excel and Access.
Object-Based MeshingObject-based meshing generates meshes based on the specified maximum element size, allowing for primarily quadrilateral elements and transitioning to triangular elements as needed.
Dimension LinesDimension lines can be drawn on the SAFE model in both architectural or decimal units. They are linked to the referenced object so that if the size of the object changes, so will the dimension line.
Foundations, Basemats, and FootingsSAFE is ideal for modeling foundations, basemats, and footings. Easily model soil supports and zero tension soil models with uplift analysis. The area assignment of soil supports is based on the subgrade modulus, and they automatically adjust whenever the mesh changes. Basemat foundation models can include pedestals, walls, columns, beams, and piles in addition to the foundation area.

EdiLus Concrete is the BIM software for the calculation of reinforced concrete structures of new and existing buildings. In a single graphical environment, design the BIM model of your structure in an intuitive workflow and get FEM calculations, graphic analysis of the results,  automatic reinforcement bars sizing and all project documents (working drawings, calculation reports, etc.).

How does EdiLus Concrete FEM structural calculation solver integrated in the software?
View the generated FEM model in real time based on the modelled structure and its loads. EdiLus CONCRETE performs the necessary calculations for vulnerability analysis and for the design of interventions to improve the seismic behaviour of new and existing buildings in reinforced concrete in compliance with Eurocodes (EC) and relating national annexes and Brazilian technical standards (NBR)*.
With the integrated FEM solver:
  • view the generated FEM model in real time based on the modelled structure and its loads.
  • quickly analyze complex structures even of large dimensions.

The calculation process uses high-performance elements such as :-
  • triangular HP-SHELL elements equipped with "drilling" degree of freedom;
  • the HP-BEAM element, with flexible beam, 2 hinges on each side, rigid arms, freely oriented, end junctions and elastic soil behaviour at the flexible part, allows to obtain rigorous calculation results, without the approximations deriving from less appropriate schematizations.

What type of modeling is supported for masonry structures? 
EdiLus Masonry adopts the innovative calculation method with triangular HP-SHELL schematization with multilayer variable thickening that allows you to perform the modeling of the structure in strict compliance with the different types of materials present, without assuming simplified assumptions on the data of the materials that are necessarily approximate.

What documents can I produce with EdiLus? 
Automatically obtain all the project documentation directly from the BIM model, in accordance with the most recent legislative provisions: carpentry frameworks, reinforcement schedules, general technical reports, calculation results, geotechnical report, working drawings, maintenance plans and the structure's cost estimate (with PriMus).

Can I import the building's 3D architectural model in IFC format? 
EdiLus is the first Italian BIM authoring software for structural calculation with buildingSMART international certification for IFC import and export. With EdiLus you can, for example, import the digital model of the architectural project created with an architectural BIM design software (for example: Edificius, Revit, Allplan, ArchiCAD, VectorWorks, etc.) and continue to work on the structural design and analysis aspects in 3D in accordance with the design requirements as established by other design team disciplines.
